Susanna Speas Mobley

Susanna Speas Mobley, 87, of Johnson City, Tennessee, formerly of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on April 9, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jack E. Mobley, her parents, Robert Levi and Susanna Laing Speas, and her three brothers, Richard, Robert and James. She is survived by her four children, Jack E. Mobley Jr. and wife, Elaine of Fort Worth, Texas, Susanna Mobley Floyd and husband Michael of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Deborah Mobley Bryant and husband William of Nashville, Tennessee, and Thomas Andrew Mobley and wife Valerie Benoist of Grinnell, Iowa. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jacquelyn and William Mobley, Anna and Ben Floyd, Sam Bryant and Timo Mobley-Benoist and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Rainelle, West Virginia on December 10, 1925, the fourth child and only daughter of Robert Levi and Susanna Laing Speas. She grew up in Rainelle and Lewisburg, West Virginia where she attended Greenbriar Women's College. She attended and graduated in the nursing cadet program at Vanderbilt University. By the time she had graduated, she had married Jack and their first child, Jack, Jr. was born. She often said that when she took her board exams that she had excelled in obstetrics and pediatrics! Susanna was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church where she was active in her Circle and as an Elder. She had a special love and respect for the First Presbyterian Church of Conway, Arkansas. She was also an active member of P.E.O., the Twenty-First Century Club and the Shakespeare Club. Susanna lived a life full of family and friends and will be remembered for her loving kindness, enjoyment of life, and strong faith. She will be missed. A memorial service honoring Susanna will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Conway, Arkansas at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Arrangements by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
