JD Studdard

JD Studdard, 88 of Pine Bluff, died peacefully Friday May 24, 2013 in the presence of his loving wife of nearly 70 years. JD was born at Kedron, Ark., Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925, the second of two sons of David Narcot and Katie Vail Dyson Studdard. He was a lifelong resident of the Watson Chapel community graduating from Watson Chapel High School in 1943. He was a long time member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and of the White Sulphur Lodge 122. JD began his work career at Ben Pearson Company before being employed by the Cotton Belt Railroad as a crane operator from which he retired in 1963. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Horace Pete Studdard. He married Vera Edna Waters Oct. 2, 1943 who survives him. They had one daughter Margaret Hart (James) of Mesquite, Texas, three sons: Dr. James D. Studdard (Dotty) of Little Rock, Ronnie B Studdard (Susan) of Pine Bluff, Dr. Daniel M Studdard (Jan) of Tulsa, Okla., a sister-in-law, Vivian Studdard,10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and many other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013, 1 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Conn officiating. Burial will follow in Good Faith Cemetery with Masonic rites.
