Mr. Phillip Harold "PH" Ward, age 88, of Prescott, Arkansas passed away, Monday, May 27, 2013 at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope. He was born December 5, 1924, in Prescott, to Phillip and Alice Nolen Ward. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prescott. He served three years in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II where he was involved in nine island invasions. Mr. Ward was awarded several Navy commendations. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 61 years, Mary May Ward. Mr. Ward is survived by a son, Phil Ward Jr. and wife Berta of Little Rock, Arkansas, a grandson, Steven Ward and wife Chelsea of Benton, Arkansas, a great-granddaughter, Addison Ward of Benton, a special care giver, Dawnique Nelson, numerous other family members and a host of friends. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Cemetery, c/o Patricia Federick, 144 Nevada 64, Prescott, Ark. 71857. Graveside service for Mr. Ward will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at Bethel Cemetery in Prescott, Rev. Bill Christian officiating.
