Joseph Calvin James, lovingly called J.C., passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013. J.C. was born January 26, 1925 in Desha, Arkansas to the late Howard and Ethel James. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane, his sister, Winola James, and a brother, Howard James. After proudly serving his country as a World War II Navy Veteran, J.C graduated from Arkansas College and began a lifelong career in business and real estate. He moved his family to Jacksonville in 1975 and became a pillar in his community. He has served his church, Jacksonville First United Methodist faithfully and was proud to be a Life time member of the Methodist Men. He was committed to helping the community through his work with Jacksonville Care Channel. He was a member of Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #10 in Batesville, Arkansas, a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner. J.C. had a strong love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them, taking great pride in being a Papa. J.C. is survived by his four children, son, Richard C. James of Rogers, daughter, Deborah J. Tennison and husband Dale of Bass, Ark., son, Joe A. James and wife Kanae of Jacksonville, daughter, Lisa M. Hickingbotham and husband Barry of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Becky, Richard Jr., Brittany,Rachel, Haley, Brandon and Molly; seven great-grandchildren; Keeton, Payton, Mackenzie, Hannah, Dylan, Bryton, and Adalie.; also a niece Sharon Bufford , and 2 nephews David and Danny James. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, with funeral services following at 11 a.m., Rev. Wendell Dorman, Rev. Mark McDonald, and Rev. Brad Moore will be officiating the service. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha, Ark. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Arkansas Hospice or Jacksonville Care Channel. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home (501) 982-2136.
