Ida Lynn Means, 99, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, surrounded by her family at the Allen Morgan Health Center in Memphis. She was born Aug. 26, 1914 in Little Rock, Ark. to the late Dr. and Mrs. W.A. Lamb. She graduated from Central High School and went on to Henderson College in Arkadelphia, Ark. where she majored in English and Education and met the love of her life Dr. Ben D. Means. Ms. Means and her late husband were founding members of Riverdale Country Club, now Pleasant Valley Country Club. She was a past president of the Arkansas Women's Medical Auxiliary and the 20th Century Club of Little Rock. She was devoted to her Sunday school class and church, Second Presbyterian of Little Rock. She was an avid golfer and after three hole-in-ones, moved on to tackle the game of tennis. She loved to travel, play bridge and was a talented seamstress making beautiful clothes for her daughters and grandchildren. She was also a lifelong fan of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks. Ms. Means leaves behind daughters, Jane Means Morse (Hal) and Suzanne Means Henderson; grandchildren, Dallas Henderson, Whitney and Ben Morse; and two great-granddaughters, Linden and Savannah Henderson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ben D. Means; brother, Lyman Lamb; and sister-in-law, Margaret. Her family would like to give thanks to the staff at Allen Morgan and Crossroads Hospice for their loving and patient care of Ms. Means. She was a mighty spirit and a wonderful mother and friend. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her love and laughter. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 20th Century Club's Lodge. http://hopeawayfromhome.org/ CanaleFuneralDirectors.com (901)452-6400.
