MAURICE "BIRD" SMITH, 60, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stoney Pike and Pearlie Mae Smith Hatchett; three brothers, Ellis Pike, Steven Pike and Odell Hatchett; three sisters, Ollie Mae Hatchett Phillips, Joyce Chanel Pike Leavy and Velma Jean Pike-Walls. He's survived by wife, Vergie Smith; two sons, Jeremy and Jonathan Smith; three daughters, Tamala Smith-Scott, Miaya and Kashawna Smith; three step-children, Tony, Darwin and Katrina Cribbs; four brothers, Larry Hatchett Sr. (Barbara), Clyde Hatchett Sr. ( Violentee), George Smith Sr. and Arthur L. Pike Sr.; six sisters, Lee C. Hatchett, Linda Holden (John), Jenise McFadden (Charles), Mattie Robinson and Leola (Tine) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; a special friend, Yashieka Dotson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
