Clyde Raymond Smith, 80, of Lakeland, Florida died November 4, 2013. He was born June 15, 1933, in Donaldson, Arkansas to Clyde Raymond Smith, Sr. and Annie Pearl Burnett Smith and married Jannis Lowery of Malvern, Arkansas in 1952. He was Professor Emeritus Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois (1997) and taught in the Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development, College of Education and Health Sciences, Bradley University (1969 – 1997); Counselor, Arkansas Enterprises for the Blind (1968); Counselor, Knoxville College (1967 – 1968); Vocational Consultant, Social Security Administration, Bureau of Hearing and Appeals (1963- -1978) Counselor, Presbyterian Guidance Center Southwestern–at–Memphis College (Rhodes University) (1960 -1967); Employment Placement Counselor, Missouri Bureau for the Blind (1958 – 1960). He received an Ed.D. Degree from The University of Tennessee (1969), M.Ed. University of Missouri (1958) and B.S. Arkansas State University (1957). He was a life member of the American Counseling Association, National Career Development Association, and the Peoria Lions Club. He served as an Elder in Presbyterian Churches in Tennessee, Illinois and Florida (1978 -2006). He has several academic publications including his Doctoral Dissertation published by ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center). He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jannis Lowery Smith of Lakeland, Florida, his daughter, Renee Lowery Smith (David W. Smith), two granddaughters, Madison Alexa and Ashley Rae, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two brothers, Donald C. Deckard of Donaldson, Arkansas and David G. Deckard of Sims, Arkansas. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 2:30 p.m. at J. A. Funk Funeral Home, Malvern, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: "Clyde and Jannis Smith Scholarship Fund" and sent to: Development Office, Donor Relations, 10 Swords Hall, Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois 61625.
