Joyce Carolyn Cates

Joyce Carolyn Cates (Hudgens), age 74, of North Little Rock, AR, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 5 in Little Rock, Ark. She was born on August 4, 1939, in England, Ark. Joyce was the daughter of the late Randle and Connie Hudgens. Joyce was a wonderful, loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who took care of everyone and was a lady of beauty inside and out. She married the love of her life, David Cates, on Feb. 26, 1957. Joyce loved scrapbooking, sewing and being creative. She also loved shopping and girls' weekend getaways. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Joyce will be remembered by her loving husband, David Cates, and their daughters: Lynn Dyer (Gary), Shari Cates, and Jamye Ganis. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Josh Dyer and Matthew and Sydney Ganis, and one sister Sandra, Evans (Lenville), and many nieces and nephews, along with a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelle Cates, and grandson, Dustin Dyer. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Joyce's homecoming. Visitation will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd., NLR, Ark. from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 7. Funeral services will be at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 E. C. Ave in North Little Rock on Friday, November 8 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Ken Shaddox and Bro. Luke Fletcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Arkansas Childrens Hospital or Park Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
