John Chambers Ayres III passed on Nov. 7, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Chambers Ayres Jr. and Edith Dillion Ayres. John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Johnna Ayres; three children, Christy (Steven) Stern, John Chambers "Jay" Ayres IV, and Kelly (Jed) Spencer; six grandchildren, Jayce, Jack, and Jake Ayres, and Matt, Alex, and Sarah Stern; and two sisters, Martha (Jim) Allen and Janie (Ed) Ayres-Miles. John was born in Memphis, Tenn., attended East High and later graduated from the University of Arkansas where he met Johnna. He was a devoted and loyal husband and father, always putting his family before his career. For 40 years, he was a self-employed Architect who loved spending time outdoors playing sports with his kids, especially his "fishing ministry" with his grandchildren, fly fishing on the Little Red River, drawing cartoons for friends and family, deer hunting, playing tennis, and watching Razorback sports. He spent much of his life serving others. John was a past elder at Fellowship Bible Church in North Little Rock, and John and Johnna were long standing members of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock where he enjoyed leading a community group for 25 years. He served as President of the Cabot School Board, Cabot Chamber of Commerce, Rolling Hills Country Club Board of Directors, and Arkansas Bow Hunter's Association. He was a former state archery champion. The family would like to thank all of John's doctors and nurses, Baptist Hospice, especially our faithful and loving caregivers, Julie Harrod and Bessie Jackson, our FBC Community Group family, Community Bible Study group, and all of our friends for caring for him and supporting Johnna during this difficult time. A celebration of John's life will be held in the Chapel at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, officiated by Rev. Bill Parkinson and Rev. Shelby Smith. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Cabot School District Student Needs Program, 602 N. Lincoln, Cabot, Ark. 72023. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501) 224-2200. John's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
