Robert "Bob" Eugene Butler, 78, of Arkadelphia passed away Nov. 9, 2013. He was born Nov. 12, 1934, to Arthur Miller and Donie Mae Bowlin Butler. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in the School of Forestry from Mississippi State University. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran. Robert began his public service career with the U.S. Forest Service. After assignments in Louisiana and Georgia, Robert transferred to the Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg office in 1971. The family moved to Arkadelphia in 1976 where he became resource manager at DeGray Lake until his retirement in 1993. Robert was a member of First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia, Ark. He was proceeded in death by his brother, George Miller Butler, of Tupelo, Miss. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jean; three daughters and spouses, Susan and Matt McBeth of Bentonville, Robin and Jeff Dyer of Benton, and Nina and Matt Riethmaier of Bentonville. His grandchildren include Kate, Joe, and Carolyn McBeth; Drew and Abby Dyer; and Anna Beth and Josie Riethmaier. Robert is also survived by three brothers; William Butler and wife, Kate of Corinth, Miss.; John Butler and wife, Cindy of Corinth, Miss.; and Henry Butler and wife, Wanda of Corinth, Miss.; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 11 at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia.
