Carolyn Curry, 87, of Little Rock, died on November 13 after a lengthy illness. She was born in North Little Rock to Belle and Roland Blenden. She attended NLR High School and graduated from LRU in 1966 where she was the President of the Phi Kappa Psi honor society. Carolyn obtained her Masters from Ouachita Baptist University in 1969. She was an associate professor at UALR and taught speech and theater. She was favorite to many and her home was the site of parties throughout the years where students gathered to sing around the piano. During the 1960's and 70's she produced various beauty pageants affiliated with the Miss America Pageant system and was actively involved in the creation of the Arkansas Ballet Company at the Arkansas Arts Center. She was the first in the nation to serve as a faculty advisor for a male fraternity, Sigma Nu. In her later years, her favorite past time was dancing at the After Thought and swapping stories with friends. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Caran, son Brian, his wife Holly, grandsons (Jonathan, Stephen, Benjamin and David) and daughter-of-the-heart Carol Hallum Wallace. The Curry family extends our deepest appreciation to Elder Independence, Everne Wright, Rosa Marshall, and Arkansas Hospice. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, November 17, at 3:30 p.m. at the North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main Street, NLR. A reception will follow.
