Syble Dean Bates, 93, of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Woodland Hills Nursing and Rehab. She was born on March 11, 1920 in Beebe, Ark. to the late Robert Otto and Lydia Williams Burns. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Bates and son-in-law Jimmy Goheen. Syble retired from Timex and was a member of Southside Church of Christ, the American Legion, and the VFW. She is survived by two daughters; Loretta Sue Goheen and Rebecca Lue and husband Don Thomas, three grandchildren; Kimberly Crook and husband Lonnie, and their children Zachary and Joshua Crook, Scott Thomas and wife Kim and their children Jordan and Dillon Thomas, and Dusty Thomas and wife Marti and their son Drake Thomas. Funeral service will be held at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 20th at 2 p.m., with Brother Cliff Hutchins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Grissard Cemetery in El Paso. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, 1504 North J.P.
