John Edward Anderson, 61, of Little Rock by way of Lonoke slept quietly into eternity Saturday, November 16, 2013, at UAMS. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served proudly in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. John had retired from the Little Rock School District where he served diligently for many years. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church-NLR, where he served under Pastor D.L. Richardson. John loved life, family, classmates, friends, and motorcycles. His beautiful smile and quiet presence will be etched in the memories of his children, Shannon and Jennica Anderson and Tony Worsham; siblings, Roena Jackson (Charles) and Benjamin Anderson (Dianne); uncles, W. W. Tolbert and Joseph "Ned" Hill; special friends, Peggy Dean-Williams, Catherine Sue Williams, Bertha Guest-Anderson, Lee High School Class of 1971; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral service for John Edward will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 23, at 1st Baptist Church, 2015 Mains Street-NLR. Family hour will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 22, also at the church. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock. Services entrusted to Walton GateWay Funeral Chapel, 2405 South Gaines, LR. Open visitation will be Friday from 1-4:30 p.m. at the funeral home, (501) 376-7188. The family would like to extend special appreciation to Peggy Dean Williams and her family for the care and love they provided to John Edward during his battle with cancer. We are deeply grateful for everything you have done. Thank you.
