Margie Evelyn Lee

Margie Evelyn Lee, age 86, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Sherwood Nursing and rehab Center. She was born March 1, 1927 at Russellville to the late William Walter and Alta Sullivan Gray. Margie loved her family and her home. She was a wonderful grandmother. Her four grandchildren visited her every week as children and took turns choosing what she cooked for them. She created many good memories for them. As an air force wife, she made every home her family lived in comfortable, sheltering and as attractive as she could. She taught her daughters by example how to make a home. She was a 58 year member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph H. Lee; five brothers; two sisters and a great-grandson, Matthew Hightower. Survivors include two daughters, Jan Gillham and husband Lucien of Sherwood, Joyce Hightower and husband Ricky of Nebraska; four grandchildren, Jess Hightower, Willie Hightower, Luke Gillham, Claire Eanes; seven great-grandchildren, Meagan, Jordan, Jacob, Josephine, Beatrice, Iona and Lucie. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Annies Chapel Cemetery in Johnson County with Rev. Jim Benfer officiating.
