Rubye L. Rippond, age 80, of Little Rock passed away quietly on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. She was born Jan. 18, 1933 to the late Richard and Louise Cherry. She was employed as an elementary teacher in the McCrory, Pulaski County and North Little Rock School District for 33 years. She retired from the North Little Rock District in 1988. She was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E Church in North Little Rock, member of the SA Jones Alumni Association, Worthy Matron, a past associate of Adah Chapter No. 4 Order of the Eastern Stars, Prince Hall Affiliation and a member of Sylvia Harris Golden Circle Assembly #76. She was the past Illustrious Commandress. and past Deputy of the Oasis of Mohammed Court #39 Daughters of Isis. She is survived by husband, Floyd Rippond Sr. of Little Rock of 61 years; son, Floyd Rippond Jr. (Melvie) of North Little Rock; and daughter, Mattie Rippond of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Felicia Mills (Marvin) of Conway, Marcus Rippond Sr. of North Little Rock and Farren White (Brice) of Ridgeland, Miss. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Bethel A.M.E Church at 600 N. Cedar, North Little Rock, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 at the church. burial will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at Arkansas Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
