Helen Louise Childress, 74, of Bryant went to be with her Lord on November 24, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born on July 28, 1939 to the late, Cleave and Viola Welch in England, Arkansas. Sister Childress was a true handmaiden of the Lord and worked alongside her husband for over 37 years pastoring. She loved to fish, singing, cooking and watching wrestling. Her favorite time and memories was spent with her children and grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Bussell and three brothers, Gene, Jesse and Ethridge Welch. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rev. Vaughn Childress; two daughters, Becky Elliott (Jeff) and Vickie Powell (Darryl); adopted daughter, Tina Taylor; three grandchildren, Tonja Carpenter, Will (Bubba) Powell and Jessica Fleeman; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Gutierrez and Joyce Taylor; and her church family. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant with Brother David Walker and Sister Barbara Alred officiating.
