Christene Williamson Short, 69, of Wabash Arkansas passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Christene was born February 15, 1944 in Helena, Arkansas to Roland Mathis Williamson and Lorene Whitworth Williamson. Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her father and mother, Roland Mathis Williamson and Lorene Whitworth Williamson, her daughter, Rosanna Lane Short; and her brothers, Johnny Williamson, Robert Williamson and Ray Williamson. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gathan "Bud" Short. Her children, Vonda (Del) Burns of Greenville, Mississippi, Roxie (David) Griffin of Nashville, Tennessee, Clark Short of Elaine, Arkansas and Gwendolyn (Jonathan) Gschwend of Wabash, Arkansas. If you knew Nanny, you knew she loved being around her grandbabies and great-grandbabies! Her grandchildren are Brynn (Jake) Pustejovsky of Waco, Texas, Rhett Burns of Scott, Mississippi, Tyler Griffin of Ratio, Arkansas, Carlie Griffin of Nashville, Tennessee, Cole Burns of Greenville,Mississippi, Gathan Short of Nashville, Tennessee, Sawyer Gschwend of Wabash, Arkansas and Annalane Gschwend of Wabash, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Charlotte Pustejovsky of Waco, Texas; three sisters, Kathalene W. (Charles Ray) Griffith of Elaine, Arkansas, Vivian W. (Harold ) Humphrey of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Fay W. (Jerry) Barnes of Elaine, Arkansas; three brothers, Ross Williamson of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, Roger (Linda) Williamson of Harrison, Arkansas, and Roland (Clara) Williamson of Elaine, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Margie Calhoon of Elaine, Arkansas and Joyce Westfall of Alexander, Arkansas. Nanny was an avid New York Yankees fan, she made the best pecan pies around. She loved spending time with her family whether it was making popcorn balls for Halloween, having a weenie roast for the grandkids or going fishing with Bud. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Short, Rhett Burns, Tyler Griffin, Mark Phillips, Jake Byrd, Allen Loveless, Cole Burns and Norman Yarbrough. Honorary pallbearers are Brynn Burns, Carlie Griffin, Gathan Short, Sawyer Gschwend, Elenor Pustejovsky, Annalane Gschwend and Charlotte Pustejovsky. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 at Elaine Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Elaine Baptist Church with the Reverend Luke Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
