Mildred Vinson Patrick, age 94, of the Calmer Community near Rison, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. She was born November 12, 1918 at Rowell, a daughter of the late Alex Vinson and Minnie Lee Roberts Vinson. Mrs. Patrick was a 1938 graduate of Woodlawn High School. She married Wilburn E. Patrick on February 9, 1943. Mrs. Patrick was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and the "Boys" at the Patrick Deer Camp. God granted Mrs. Patrick the gift of "hospitality". She was always quick to deliver a meal to a sick friend or a grieving family. Mrs. Patrick was well known for her fried pies, deer steak and cornbread. She had a quick wit and sense of humor that often had her family laughing. Known as Big Mama to her grandchildren, Mrs. Patrick cherished each visit and phone call. Mrs. Patrick was a long time member of Center Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday school class and auxiliary. She loved the Lord and her church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn E. Patrick on September 2, 2011; infant son, Eddie Fred Patrick; brothers, William Vinson and J.D. Vinson. Mrs. Patrick is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Susan Patrick of Rogers, Wendell and Sandy Patrick of Calmer; one sister, Loraine Sipes of North Little Rock; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Mike Wilson of Elkins, Alex and Leslie Patrick of Smyrna, Georgia, Wendy Patrick of Pine Bluff, Brooke and Jay Haley of San Antonio, Texas; two great grandchildren, Charles Alexander Patrick and Sofia Claire Patrick of Smyrna, Georgia. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doney Blackerby and Reverend William Paul Woolley officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home. The family will be at 5940 Highway 114, Rison, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to Center Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 60 Cole Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665. Pallbearers are Dr. Mark Attwood, Gary Cope, Roy Owen, Jack Broach, Ron Johnston, and Clinton Sipes. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216, www.buiefuneralhome.com.
