Milo Henry Fields, Jr.

Lt. Col Milo H. Fields Jr. (ret), age 88 years, of Letona Arkansas, passed away Saturday 19 October 2013. Milo was born 24 May 1925 in Osawatomie Kansas the only child of Milo H. and Stella M. Fields. A career military veteran, he received a Masters in Engineering from Arizona State University and a Masters in Nursing from Pittsburg State University, Kansas. He married Odessia I Escue in 1949, raising a family while stationed to locations around the world before retiring to Wellsville Kansas in 1970. Milo enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and shortly after his Navy discharge was accepted into the newly formed U.S. Air Force cadet training program. He received his pilot wings and commission in 1949. Milo's 27 years of service to his country included combat duty in WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam. On retiring he pursued a second career as a registered nurse and instructor with St. Joseph, University Kansas Hospital, Kansas City. Milo is survived by two children; daughter Dana L. Hanna, of Letona Arkansa and son Milo H. Fields III, of South Pasadena Florida. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Amy G. Hanna, Travis L. Fields, Corie M. St. Germain and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veteran's charity of your choosing. Milo and Odessia's remains will be lay to rest in private memorial service at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy in charge of arrangements.
