William Richard "Dick" Craft, age 79, of Bryant, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 25, 2013, after a 28 year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born June 22, 1934 in Southland, Texas. Richard held rank in the U.S. Army, Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of The Arrow. Dick was employed for 30 years with IBM as a Customer Engineer. There was nothing he couldn't rig together, repair or fabricate. He built a single engine plane in his garage in Fort Smith, a 24 foot cabin cruiser in the backyard in Little Rock and a 2200 sq. ft. home in Benton, not to mention the countless computers and robots he built. Richard had a great sense of wit, even at the end. He was a member and Deacon at Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, W. R. and Hazel Craft of Sweetwater, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Norma Craft of Bryant; two daughters, Lenna Hopkins and husband, David of Little Rock and Lisa Smith of Bryant; four grandchildren, Brandon Smith of Fayetteville, Andrew Smith of Bryant, Nick and Tom Hopkins of Little Rock and one brother, John Gregory Craft of Austin, Texas. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Indian Springs Baptist Church in Bryant with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Samaritan's Purse.
