Natalie Steel (Lee) Zahalka the daughter of Col. Charles L. Steel III and Janet Smith Steel was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 13, 1947 and passed away in Heber springs, Arkansas on October 24, 2013 at the age of 66 years. She was a retired Commercial Insurance Broker and was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church of Heber Springs. She had been a resident of San Diego, California and moved to Heber Springs in 2008. She enjoyed bridge, traveling and loved the Heber Springs area, her daughters and granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Janet Steel. Her father Charles Steel III founded the Arkansas Nature Conservatory, brother Charles L. Steel IV who was a 4th generation West Point graduate and a daughter Janet Ruth Pyetzki. She is survived and was the proud Navy wife of her husband Commander Joseph H. Zahalka USN (Ret), of Heber Springs, four daughters Jennifer Krebs of San Diego, California, Deborah Shapiro of Calabasas, California, Michelle Zahalka of Ventura, California, Christina Zahalka of San Diego, California, a brother Christopher Steel of Little Rock five granddaughters Sabrina Krebs and Natalie Krebs of San Diego, California, Ella Shapiro, Abby Shapiro and Carly Shapiro all of Calabasas, California, two nephews Charles L. Steel V of Newport, Arkansas and Dr. Christopher Steel of Batesville, Arkansas besides other relatives and many friends. A memorial service will be held at St.Francis Episcopal Church, 20 Woodland Cove Drive in Heber Springs on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 9 a.m. by Reverend Marti Dalby. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the American Cancer Society.
