Carolyn Marie Pankey born January 30, 1943 in Pleasant Plains, daughter of Marion and Irene Hughes Martin. She was 70 years, 8 months and 27 days old when she died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 when she became seriously ill while on vacationing in Port Aransas, Texas. She was united in marriage to Howard Pankey on February 13, 1959. She was a homemaker, former employee of the Times Dispatch, Pastor's wife and a member of Ravenden Springs Baptist Church. Carolyn served in the ministry with her husband for over 30 years at different churches starting with Old Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, Hoxie First Baptist Church, Cedar Glade Baptist Camp and Ravenden Springs Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, Marion Martin; a daughter, Merritt Pankey and a son, Jason Pankey. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Howard Pankey of Imboden; her mother, Irene Martin of Walnut Ridge; two daughters, Rosalind Casillas of Imboden and Denia Rusinowski of Searcy; two sons, Deshawn Pankey of Lynn and Terrell Pankey of Texas; one brother, Larry Martin of California; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends who loved her. Funeral Service is Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 3 p.m. in the Bryan Chapel with Bro. Billy Ed Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 til 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to be made to the Ravenden Springs 1st Baptist Church, P.O. Box 174; Ravenden Springs, Ark. 72460.
