Iris Lavonne Gauldin Henry transitioned from her earthly body to her heavenly home on October 17, 2013. Born on June 30, 1931, in Beebe, Arkansas, to Robert and Eleanor Counts Gauldin, she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Bertha and Olen Gauldin. She attended Beebe High School and Beebe Junior College (now ASU Beebe). At the age of 17, she married James Allen Henry, who died in 1991 at the age of 62. After marrying, Iris and Jim moved to Little Rock, built a house that she lived in for 57 years, and had three children. Iris was very active at St. Paul United Methodist Church and loved playing cards with her Bridge Club of 50 years. She worked as an assistant to Dr. John Watkins, at Darnall's School, as a reading assistant at Forest Heights and Hall High School, and as a teaching assistant at the Cathedral School. She was an avid reader and a skilled seamstress and homemaker. Iris loved to travel-- whether it was camping with her family around the nation, searching for seashells during summer beach trips or cruising around the world with her friends. She never met a stranger and always found the best in others. During most of her adult life, her body was in pain, but she never complained. The most important thing to her was her family, and she liked to say that her most precious blessings called her "MIMI". She is survived by Kathleen Henry Joiner & Steve Joiner and children, Robert and Meghan, and Meghan's fiancé, Jonathon Wright; Dr. Robert Henry & wife Dr. Laura Otter, and children Allison, Adrie, and Alex; and Paul & Maria Cone Henry and children, James and Lilly. Her funeral will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, Ark., 72207, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013. Arrangements by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, (501) 224-8300. Please wear your happy clothes to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to St. Paul or a charity of your choice. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
