Edward Sawyer

EDWARD FRANKLIN SAWYER, SR. (BUBBA), age 63, passed away on Friday, Aug. 30, 2013. He was born in Little Rock, Ark. on Aug. 27, 1949. Mr. Sawyer graduated from ASU Beebe, was retired from the United States Army as a drill sergeant. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Ky. after returning from Vietnam and later retired from Civil Engineers 314th Supply on the LRAFB. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, North Little Rock, Ark. Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Gordon Sawyer and Betty Lee White Sawyer and his father-in-law, William H. Smith. Bubba coached his daughter in softball for 10+ years and greatly enjoyed any sporting competition. Bubba also coached his son in basketball at the Jacksonville Boys & Girls Club and in baseball at Excel Park. He coached several district, State and National softball teams over the years. He enjoyed collecting coins and vintage toys. Bubba loved his family, his grandchildren and his kitten. After retirement, he was a member of Chapter 7 DAV of Greater Little Rock and he and his wife volunteered through this organization at several venues. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharoyn K. Sawyer of Jacksonville; two children, S. Kathleen Skrdlant, son-in-law, Jeffrey K. Skrdlant of Sherwood, and son, Edward F. Sawyer, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Crystal D. Sawyer of Sherwood; three grandchildren, Sierra E. Parks of Sherwood; Wade E. Sawyer and Justin M. Sawyer of Sherwood and his beloved cat, Princess. Visitation will be at 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013 at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock. Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at Rest Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow. Bro. Travis Matthews will be officiating.
