HILDA LAVERNE REYNOLDS SOLINGER passed away at Parkway Health Center in Little Rock, Ark., Saturday, August 31st 2013. She was born at home, May 30th 1926 the youngest of seven to her parents, Mary Ellen and Willard A. Reynolds in Monticello, Ark. She met her spouse, John Valentine Solinger at a dance while serving as a U.S.O. hostess. Hilda married "The Love of Her Life" May 10th 1945, at the young age of seventeen in Dermott, Ark. They started their family early with the births of their four children: John Preston, Janet Marie, Cynthia Lucille and Rebecca Renee. John and Hilda raised their children in Little Rock, Ark. and Hilda later chose a career in ladies apparel sales. Over her career, she worked as the store manager for several popular apparel shops including Mam'selle Shop, Tommy's, Irma Dumas, David's of Arkansas, and Fines. Upon retirement, Hilda and John moved To Heber Springs, Ark. and built their last home together on the Little Red River. Hilda looked forward to visits from her eight grandchildren Missy, Jennifer, India, Dorian, Sheri, Elaina, Lance and Johnny. Hilda was also the proud great grandmother of thirteen, Jonathan, Emily, Jasmine, Cody, Evan, Savannah, August, River, Alec, Allston, Bridget, Jack and Lucy. Hilda will certainly be missed by her family and friends. Though bitter sweet, we are all extremely happy for her to finally be back in the arms of her adoring husband under God's watchful eye. Now free from pain, with an unbelievable memory and words of wisdom that last for hours. Survivors include her son John Preston Solinger and two daughters, Cynthia Lucille Hughes and Rebecca Renee Talbert; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, John Valentine Solinger and daughter, Janet Marie Taylor, parents, Mary Ellen and Willard Reynolds, two brothers, Carl and Harry Reynolds and four sisters, Cleo Collins, Elizabeth Pope, Helen Jasay and Irma Jean Reynolds. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with service to follow at 12 noon Friday, September 6th at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road in North Little Rock, Ark. www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
