Brooks Griffin

Brooks Griffin, 87, of Elaine, Arkansas passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Griffin was born February 7, 1926 at Cypert, Arkansas to the late Frank Owens Griffin, Sr. and Louise Mixon Griffin. He was a well-known farmer and a member of the Elaine Baptist Church. Mr. Griffin served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the Survivors Club as well as the American Legion. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Anna Griffin of Elaine; three sons, David Brooks Griffin (Roxie) of Nashville, Tennessee, John Harper (Bonnie) of Elaine, and Bruce Harper (April) of Elaine; one daughter, Frances Jo Vondran (Danny) of Helena, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Brooke Christine, David Paul Hafer, Lisa Robbins, Tyler Griffin, Carlie Griffin, Blake Harper, Bradley Harper, Clay Harper, Casey Harper, Zack Harper, and Katherine Norman; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maureen Thomas of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Frances Ouso (Johnny) of Tucson, Arizona; and two brothers, Frank Griffin, Jr. (Lu) of Helena, and Buron Griffin (Jewel) of Helena. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Marie Griffin. Funeral services for Brooks Griffin will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Elaine Baptist Church with Reverend Luke Watson officiating. Visitation will precede the service beginning and 12 noon. Burial will be at Cypert Cemetery near Marvell, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Curtis Crisp, Bobby Ashabranner, Paul Sellers, Smokey Campbell, Gary Inman, Billy Ussery, Phillip Howell, and Terry Hill. Honorary pallbearers Terry Brown, Clayton Zwerschke, Tommy Hayword, Marlyn Sandifer, Bo Corder, Craig Campbell and James Kilabrew.
