Stanley W. Fast, 90, of Hot Springs Village, Ark, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Hot Springs. He was born March 30, 1923, in Moundridge, Kan. to Albert H. and Mary L. Fast. Stan grew up in Kansas and Arkansas and enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater until the end of WWII. Stan graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1950 with a JD degree. He worked as a claims attorney in the insurance business in Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, and retired from Silvey Insurance in 1985. Stan and his late wife, Martha, moved to Hot Springs Village, in 1985. He was a member and Elder of Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, a member of the 18-Hole MGA, the Democratic Club of Hot Springs Village, the VFW and the Arkansas Razorback Club. Stan was also involved in the CBI Veterans organization for many years and served as Commander of the Razorback Basha of Arkansas. Stan is survived by a sister, Margie Churchill of Fayetteville, two sons, Stanley Wayne Fast Jr. (Cindy) of Bethel Park, Pa., and Alan Paisley Fast of Emporia, Kan.; two grandchildren, Laura Waterstram (Kirk) of Bethel Park, Pa. and Stanley Wayne Fast III (Autumn) of St. Paul, Minn., and great-grandsons, "Jack" and Henry Waterstram and Theo Fast. A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines, 275 Asturias Dr., Hot Springs Village, Ark., with the Reverend Bill Bailey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Memorial Fund or your favorite charity.
