Wallace W. Joiner

Ret. Marine Corps MGySgt Wallace W. Joiner, age 78, of Arkadelphia passed away September 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Willie and Georgia Mae Joiner, and two sisters Doris Joiner and June West. He is survived by his wife, Clara Jean Bivens Joiner of 59 years, one son, Bruce Joiner (Jolene), two daughters, Sharon Hearnsberger (Terry) and Cathy Bell all of Arkadelphia. He is also survived and loved by grands and great-grands: Reid Joiner, Leah Seale (James), Jay Cox(Heather) and Laila, Zayde, Colt , Greg Cox (Karen) and Brantley, Mandy Lane (Corrie) and Morgan, Beth Jones (Brian) and Denver, Dillon, Chris Cuellar (Jessica) and baby Cuellar due March 2014, Stacy Hearnsberger and Malek, Lindsey Crowder (Michael), Mallory Bell (fiancee Brett Bagwell). Wally was born in Tyronza, Arkansas. Upon high school graduation Wally enlisted in the Marine Corps, went to boot camp then returned to marry Ms. Clara. He served our country for 27 years as maintenance chief on jet fighters and C-130 transport planes. He fought in the Korean War, two tours in Vietnam based out of Okinawa, and traveled to many bases (or "hops") all over the world transporting soldiers, equipment, supplies while keeping the planes flying. Military retirement in 1980 brought the Joiners to Arkadelphia. Wally was then employed as campus police by Henderson State University. He served and protected the citizens of Arkadelphia as police officer for the city for 12 years, security officer for Iron Mountain Marina, Ouachita Baptist University, volunteer firefighter for DeGray Fire Department and more recently bailiff for Clark County. Box 1134, Millington, Tenn. 38083. Visitation to be held at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home Sunday, September 22, 2013, 4-6 p.m.. Funeral service to be held Monday, September 23, 2013 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 2 p.m.. Interment at DeGray Cemetery following with Military Honors. Semper Fi, always faithful!
