Aileen Davis Barnett

AILEEN DAVIS BARNETT, 92, of Maumelle, previously of Blytheville, died Sept. 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Barnett. Aileen was the last survivor of 14 Davis siblings, of which there were three sets of twins, including her twin, Dean. Other brothers were Barton, Burl, Charlie, Doyle, Hoyle, Earl, Troy and Clark. Sisters included Bernice, Hester, Mattie, and Doris. She leaves a daughter, Lawanda Simmons of Maumelle; grandsons, Kevin Simmons (Amy) of Highland Ranch, Colo. and Brad Simmons (Stephanie) of Olive Branch, Miss.; and six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katherine, Madison, Melana, Kylie, and Cade Simmons. Aileen was born in Rye, Ark. in 1921 to the late George P. Davis and Elizabeth Clark Davis and grew up in that general area. She retired from the Randall Co. in Blytheville and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Blytheville. She will be remembered for many things, including her numerous gifts of quiet, hard work to help out where needed. In addition to the helpful work (always to perfection), she would most often arrive with a delicious, freshly baked treat. She maintained what seemed like an unparalleled level of energy and equally sharp mind until the end. Her inspiration will live on in many of us. At her request, there will be a graveside service at Union Cemetery in Rye on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Union Cemetery, c/o Karen Gage, 1202 Hwy 278 West, Monticello, Ark. 71655-3879. Arrangements by Rosewood Cremation obit/guestbook www.rosewoodcremation.com.
