Freida Kathryn Ward

Freida Kathryn Ward, age 84 of Conway, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Freida was born near Quitman, Arkansas, September 25, 1929. Along with her four siblings, she was raised by her parents Lois and Cleo Tarver on their family farm. She graduated from Arkansas State Teacher's College, attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and received a Master's Degree in Education and Administrative Supervision from Sam Houston State University. She married Grady Ward, and together they raised their daughter Linda Kathryn. In 1990, she retired as principal of Bane Elementary School in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District in Houston, Texas. Freida is survived by her grandson, Michael Webb of Englewood, Colorado; sister, Ruth Johnson of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and brother, Larry Tarver of Rogers, Arkansas. Freida was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Ward; daughter Linda Webb; parents, Cleo and Lois Tarver; sister, Barbara Roberts; and brother, Ralph Tarver. Special thanks to Jim and Barbara Webb for all their loving aid and support during Freida's period of illness. A visitation will be held at the Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in Conway from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. A celebration of Freida's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 30, in the chapel at Griffin Leggett. Burial will follow at Pearson Cemetery in Pearson, Arkansas.
