Mary Thomas Grinder Davis

Mary Thomas Grinder Davis, daughter of Thomas Grinder and Eula Mitchell Grinder, was born on Feb. 28, 1918 in Hohenwald, Tenn. Joined in holy matrimony to Billy Flynn Davis on Aug. 15, 1936, they were blessed with four children. Children include: son - Daniel Davis and wife, Dolores (Walker) of Many, La.; son - Don Davis of Benton, Ark.; son - Douglas Davis and wife, Sharon (Capshaw) of Poyen, Ark.; daughter - M. Linda Davis Vance and husband, Ray Vance of Sheridan, Ark. Added to the family were 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mary Tom's father, Thomas Grinder, was taken by typhoid fever four months before she was born. Her mother, Eula, married J. Franklin Dabbs. Mary Tom loved her stepfather and had many wonderful memories of him and their family. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather, husband, brother - Carl; sister - Maxine Finney; granddaughter - Crystal Rena Norwood Carter; and grandson - Clay Tyson Vance. Mary Tom was a Christian and served her church and community with inspirational faith and devotion. She taught different ages through the years, wrote gospel songs and listened to many who sought her wisdom in life challenges. She always had a smile and loved to help anyone in need. She was a member of Poyen Assembly of God Church. Her children saw what a Christian life should be. She studied her Bible faithfully. Her family knew they were loved because she displayed her love to them unconditionally. She departed this side of the Jordan River on Sept. 27, 2013 and left many family and friends to cherish her memories. She reached the other side with a host of family and friends rejoicing and welcoming her to the heavenly city where she will be reunited with loved ones. Most importantly, she has been welcomed by the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Mary Tom has a glorified body which is healthy and full of life. No sickness or disability will ever touch her again! Visitation service will be held at Regency Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. Funeral service will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Bro. Larry Stinson and Bro.
