Larry W. Burnett Sr.

Larry W. Burnett Sr. 63 of Monticello passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born October 13, 1950 in Springhill, La. to the late Clifford W. Burnett and Corinne Britt Umphries. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jessica Burnett and a brother, Bobby Burnett. He was a member of Halley Baptist Church and a graduate of SAU in Magnolia where he obtained a BSE in Physical Education and minor in History and Science. He was a retired coach and school teacher having coached in Bradley, Fouke, Brinkley, Crossett and lastly Dermott Schools. He had a great love of coaching, teaching and a love for his family and friends. Larry just had a great love for life and was a very personable and funny guy to be around. He also had a great love for the outdoors enjoying camping and fishing and being with his grandchildren. His success in life was credited for his deep love for Christ. He loved his wife, Jean dearly and put her first in life always caring for her feelings. He is survived by his wife, Jean Starling Burnett of Monticello; one son, Larry Burnett, Jr. and wife Synitra of Monticello; one daughter, Melissa Davis and husband Jake of Monticello; one brother, Cliff Burnett and wife Judy of Taylor; one sister, Pam Dinkins and husband Eddie of Taylor; four grandsons, Jacob, Bobby, Kobi and Gage; his mother-in-law, Lola Starling of Magnolia; one brother in-law, Jimmy; three sisters-in-laws, Jane, Joan and Jo; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2 at Bradley United Methodist Church in Bradley, Ark. with burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Visitation times are as follows; from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday night at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello and from 12 noon until service time at the Bradley United Methodist Church.
