George Washington Word, Jr.

George Washington Word, Jr., 68, of Camden, Ark. passed away April 13, 2014 at Ouachita County Medical Center. He was born in Camden on January 15, 1946 to the late George and Lillie May Word. George was a loving husband; father; grandfather; brother; and a great friend to many. He loved the Lord and his family. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was owner of Word Construction. He was preceded in death by his Parents, George Washington Word, Sr. and Lillie Mae Davis Word; and his brother, James Buster Word. He is survived by his wife, Paula Word of Camden, Ark.; son, Leslie Word and wife, Melissa of El Dorado, Ark.; step-son, Robin Hicks and wife, Kim of Suffolk, Va.; step-son, Kevin Hicks and wife, Manisha of Little Rock, Ark.; step-daughter, Rachel Jones and husband, Ryan of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandson, Christian Word of El Dorado, Ark.; step-granddaughter, Presley Jones of Hot Springs, Ark.; step-grandson, Dylan Hicks of Camden, Ark.; step-grandson, Mason Hicks of Suffolk, Va.; brother, Jerry Word and wife, Marie; sisters, Hazel Leamons and Louis Larkins and husband, Gerald all of Camden, Ark. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Proctor Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Don Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Word Cemetery in Harmony Grove, Ark. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Word, Frank Bearden, Scott Eads, Stacy Ledbetter, Gary Pennington, Russell Price, Rocky Sullivan, Pat Foster and Honorary Pallbearer Jim May.
