Thomas Dodd Foote

Thomas Dodd Foote, age 91, of Hot Springs, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Monday, April 14, 2014. The son of William A. Foote and Amy Bell Jenkins Foote, he was born September 16, 1922 at Eunice, La. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Edward Jenkins Foote; and a sister, Carolyn Foote Kramer. Mr. Foote received his early education at Gabe Meyer School, and was a 1940 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. He attended Arkansas A&M College (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello), and Arkansas Teacher's College at Conway (now the UCA). He enlisted in the United States Army in August, 1942. His basic training was at Camp Roberts in the 104th Infantry Division. Mr. Foote served in France, Belgium, Holland, and met the Russians in Germany at the end of the war, and was discharged in December, 1945. For 30 years, he was employed by Arkansas Power and Light Company, retiring as supervisor of survey engineers. A Baptist by faith, Mr. and Mrs. Foote attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs. His memberships included the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Quapaw Masonic Lodge #730, Arkansas Consistory, and the Sahara Shriners. He was active with Friends of the Library and the Arkansas Arts Center for a number of years. A great source of enjoyment was doing metal work in his shop, and especially traveling. Survivors include his wife, Odessa Blackerby Lochridge Foote; a sister-in-law, Margie W. Foote; nephews, William Allen Foote, and James Foote; a niece, Nancy Dixon; a son, Hal Lochridge (Glenda); a daughter Linda Lochridge Franques (Lloyd); and three grandchildren, Jennifer Lochridge, Kimberly Lochridge, and Rob Franques. Funeral services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff with Rev. Jeff Cranton officiating. Interment follows in Clement Cemetery in Grant County.
