Alexander Walker Smullen

Alexander Walker Smullen, 64, of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born on June 22, 1949 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Hugh McClusky and Jane Walker Smullen. He is also preceded in death by one sister, Jane Q. Goula. Alex proudly served his county as a medic in the U.S. Army while in Germany as well as Fort Ord, California. He was a respiratory therapist for 48 years, most recently working at St. Vincent's North. Alex was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cabot. He is survived by his wife; Julie A. Smullen, daughters; Carrie A. Smullen of Sherwood and Alyssa Stephenson of Auburn, California, brother; Robert Smullen of Mainville, Ohio, sisters; Catherine Smullen of North Brunswick, New Jersey, and Norma A. Smullen of Manville, New Jersey, mother-in-law; Anne Lingard of Shepshed, UK, brother-in-law; Adrian Lingard of Shepshed, UK, sister-in-law; Beryl Carpenter of Vilonia, sister-in-law; Christine Taylor of Shepshed, UK, and his beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mac McDougal officiating.
