Billy John Young

Billy John Young, age 85, of Malvern passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born, in Round Hill, on February 21, 1929 the son of Jim and Ethel Voss Young. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Dwanton Young. He was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church and a deacon for 60 years, a member and one of the founders of Old Field Hunting Club and was an avid Razorback fan. Billy John loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Survivors, wife of 67 years, to whom he married on December 21, 1946, Ruth Lee Young; son, Doug Young (Rhonda) of Malvern; daughter, Ann Thomason of Camden; sister, Kathryn Blevins of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Leigh Honnell (Paul) of Camden, Julie Thomason of Camden, Angela Minge (Lance) of Cabot and Hunter Young (Salina) of Haskell; great-grandchildren, Lauren Derrick (Dustin), Wes Honnell (Jessica), Katie Minge, Kellie Minge, Jace Minge and Cooper Thomason; great-great-grandson, Braden Derrick; special sister-in-law, Carolyn Whaley of San Diego, California and brother-in-law, H.D. Lee (Beth) of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Regency Funeral Home with Reverend Jesse Stripland and Brother Ron Parrish officiating. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund, 8715 Highway 222, Malvern. Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home.
