JR Andrews, 71, of Scott went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, April 23, 2014. The cause was chronic pulmonary disease. He was born in Mayflower, Ark. on Oct. 19, 1942. JR is preceded in death by his father and mother, James Ira Andrews & Eva Jane (Smith) Andrews; brothers, A.D., Martineau and David Andrews and John Haven; sisters, Gracie Sanford, Thelma Lois Glover, Lorene Hay and Pauline Fitch. JR was a member of Toltec Baptist Church. He was a tool setter for Remington Arms of Lonoke, Ark. for 34 years, before retiring to enjoy his grandkids more. He started most of his days early before dawn and enjoyed a long ride after work. He never took a shortcut and always took the long way around to visit with friends and family, creating stories all along the way with the people he loved. JR is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lavern (Stoker) Andrews; son, Daniel Andrews (Melissa); daughter, Catherine Smith (Paul) of Scott, Ark.; granddaughter, Amanda Andrews of Lonoke, Ark.; and grandson, Colton Andrews of Scott, Ark.; his sisters, Lou Maki (Clarence) of Minnesota and Catherine Beel (Don) of Missouri; and many loved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, and the Funeral will be held on Monday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Roller Owens Funeral Home Chapel, North Little Rock, Ark. with Brother Charles Martin officiating.
