Arnold Wayne Barnard, 82, of Vilonia, Ark. passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, July 30, 2014 after losing a battle with cancer. Arnold had a genuine love for people and never met a stranger. He loved to entertain them with his endless stories. Making people laugh was his delight. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. Arnold was born August 26, 1931, in North Little Rock, Ark. to Walter and Etta Barnard. Arnold proudly served his country in the US Air Force as an air traffic control operator in the late ‘40's to early ‘50's. He retired as an accomplished home builder in 1984 and his love for growing things led him to build and maintain greenhouses for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and a daughter, Aronya Gail Colston (John). He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linna Faye Barnard of Vilona, Ark.; four children: sons, Lawrence Michael Barnard (Kathy), Alan Wayne Barnard (Diana), daughter, Jeri Denise Rivera (Roman), son, Barry Richard Barnard (Anna), 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and family. In lieu of a funeral or memorial service, Arnold's wish was to donate his remains to the Department of Neurobiology & Developmental Sciences of the UAMS in Little Rock, Ark. in hopes that it will be beneficial to others. The family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. at the family home in Vilonia, Friday, August 1, 2014 to celebrate his life. They request any memorials be made to a charity of choice.
