James "Jim" Elton Woods

James "Jim" Elton Woods Sr., 69, of Hamburg passed away at his home Monday, July 28. He was born on September 8, 1944 to Travis Elton and Frankie Laverne Woods. He retired after 42 years from Georgia Pacific where he worked as a Converting Superintendent. He was a member of North Crossett First Baptist Church and the Arkansas Trace Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping and hunting. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patsy Woods; a sister, Carolyn Fleming; a step daughter, Lynnette Pannell; and his special companion, Emmie Kinnaird. He is survived by his daughter, Angie Haynie (Kenny) of West Monroe, La.; one son, James "Jimmy" Woods Jr. (Kristie) of Crossett; one stepson, Jonathon Pannell (Tonya) of Hamburg; one brother, Glen Woods (Joann) of Decatur, Ala.; three sisters, Lanell Pigg (Jim), Brenda Gowan (Larry) and Sherry Cameron (Scott) all of Crossett; three grandsons, Stan Haynie (Katie) of Crossett, Ryne Haynie of West Monroe, La., and Damien Moyers (Lyndsey) of Bonita, La.; one granddaughter, Ashton Woods of Crossett; two step-granddaughters, Destinee Pannell Lyons (Bradley) of Washington and Carla Pannell of Hamburg; and one step-grandson, Nicholas Akers of Crossett. A Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 31 at North Crossett First Baptist Church with Bro. Robin Allen officiating. Interment Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers were Mike Cain, Richard Clark, Bobby Miller, Julian Bayliss, Johnny Upshaw, Gayle Bunn, Thad Douglas and Greg Smith. Honorary Pallbearers were Larry Gowan, Jim Pigg, the Arkansas Trace Hunting Club and G.P. co-workers. Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 30 at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family would like all donations be made to Ashley County Cares, The American Cancer Society, or Hospice Home Care in Monticello, Arkansas.
