Jack Elton Sligh, 90, of North Little Rock, passed away August 2, 2014 at home. He was born December 28, 1923 in Malvern, Arkansas, and was the son of William M. Sligh and Bessie Tugwell Sligh. Jack was an educator for North Little Rock School district for 35 years. He was a member of the Mason's and a Baptist. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and animals. After 28 years of separation Jack has rejoined the love of his life Billye June in the presence of God. A doting husband, beloved brother and uncle, and committed educator, he has touched many lives. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, Jack also served our community for 35 years by shaping young lives and minds of those he taught. He is preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Billye June. Survivors include his sister, May Lou Buckles, niece, Yvonne Uzzell, two great-nephews, John Uzzell and Stewart (Sarah) Uzzell, and three great-great-nephews Jeremy and Mathew Atwood and Jacob Uzzell. A graveside service will be held August 6, 2014 at 1 pm, at Rockport Cemetery in Malvern, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sherwood Animal Shelter.
