Maxine Rodgers Owens

Maxine Rodgers Owens, age 80, of Little Rock, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. Mrs. Owens was born October 5, 1933, in Rison, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William Lester and Eula Mae Reed Rodgers. Maxine was reared and received her education in Rison and Pine Bluff, where she attended both junior high and graduated from Pine Bluff High School. She was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She had worked as a secretary, bookkeeper and receptionist for Smart Chevrolet, Cohen's Department Store, Ben Pearson Cotton Picking Company and Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. "Bill" Owens, whom she married February 21, 1958, in Pine Bluff; brothers, Eddie and Billy Rodgers; a granddaughter, Hannah Grace Owens. Survivors include son, Patrick Owens (Jennifer) of Corinth, Mississippi; daughters, Cindy Owens Beavers (Russ) of Little Rock, Sandra Owens Starnes (Kenneth) of Pine Bluff, and Tammy Owens Dutton (Kip) of Star City; step-son, Jerry Owens (Paula) of Pine Bluff; brother, CT Rodgers of Pine Bluff; sister, Linda Yaney of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Ashleigh Bishop, Tiffany Camp, Megan McGriff, Jared Dutton, Erin Walker, Zachary Starnes, Valerie Beavers, Stephanie Buerkle, Spencer and Will Owens; great-grandchildren, Anna Camp, Elizabeth Dutton, Chip Walker, Cooper and Carter Starnes. Funeral services will be Monday, August 11, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Todd Howard and Dr. James Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
