Rosco Eugene "Gene" Jones, 83, of Benton, passed away August 10, 2014. He was born July 2, 1931 in West Plains, Missouri to the late Sterling Rosco and Amy Edna Elliott Jones. Gene was the owner and operator of Gene Jones Wrecker Service and Body Shop in Benton for well over 30 years. He retired in 1993 and enjoyed working on lawn care equipment and spending time with family and friends. Gene always had a joke to tell. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Troyce Ann Thornelle and Frances Louise Robinson, brother, Bobby Jones. Gene is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Louise Jones, son, Robert Jones of Benton, sisters, Martha Ann Grigsby of Bryant, Edna Louise Gregory of Benton, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Jones, Kenny Burton, Harold Smith, Eddie Legg, Melvin Finley, Jerry Hubman, Chase Gosvener and Clay Spears. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 11 a.m. Thursday with Bro. Kim Hammer officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ashbys.
