Joseph Douglas Holcomb, 55, of Mayflower, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born on May 6, 1959 in Sacramento, California to "Pappy" Eugene and Claudia Atkins Holcomb. Joseph was ordained and taught at the Agape School of World Evangelism and also served as Chaplain for the Arkansas Department of Corrections for many years. He was the commissioner and coach of Mayflower Summer Baseball. Joseph was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Cindy Holcomb and Virginia Holcomb, and one son, Jacob Shireman. Joseph is survived by his wife; Melissa Shireman Holcomb of Mayflower, mother; Claudia Faye Atkins Holcomb Wagner, sons; Joe D. Holcomb of Mayflower, James Holcomb of Conway, Jonah Shireman of Middleton, RI, and Joseph Shireman of Mayflower, siblings; Charlie Holcomb, David Holcomb, Thomas Jeffrey Bivins, Christy Arlean Paola and Roger Holcomb, grandson; Andrew Thompson, and 13 nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. Second Street, Cabot (501) 843-5816.
