Melba A. Ramsay, 88 of Springdale passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at her home. She was born March 15, 1926 in Prescott, Arkansas to Rev. William Lee and Oma Elizabeth Willis Arnold. Melba graduated from Conway High School in 1942 at the age of 16 and then graduated from SMU in Pre-Med and a minor in Latin at the age of 19. She had many talents and used them in employment outside the home to include teaching and serving as a congressional liaison. She had a strong belief in social justice and partnered in the ministry of her husband, Rev Charles E. Ramsay. Together they served the communities and United Methodist fellowships of Mabelvale, Altheimer, Pine Bluff, Warren, Russellville, Batesville, Jonesboro, Springdale and Forest City. She unselfishly supported her husband and children throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles Ramsay. Survivors include four daughters, Janet M. Nickell and husband Jacob of Tucson, Arizona, Ruth R. Sharp and husband Walt of Williamsburg, Va., Mary R. Huey and husband Thom of Springdale and Martha L Ramsay of Springdale; five grandchildren: Kate Keith and husband Bryan, Dr. Ralph Teed Jr., Sarah Teed, Daniel Sharp, Rachael Sharp. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale with Rev. Herschel McClurkin officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to your local church.
