Mona Anne Shaw, age 80, of Bryant, was born October 10, 1933, in Augusta, to Herman Sawyer and Doris Holler (Blalock). Mona attended State Teachers College (now UCA), and spent the majority of her career in the field of personnel administration — a natural fit — because her greatest passion was people. Known for her ease of conversation, she possessed an infectious smile and laugh and, throughout her life, maintained a sweet demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. There were countless recipients of her consistent, nurturing, love. She died in her home surrounded by loved ones on August 17, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Paul E. Shaw; three daughters: Carol Anne Cullum (Clay), Shelly Lankford (Keith), and Dana Shaw Bailey (Michael); five grandchildren: Amy Owen, Laura Woodall, Alex Lankford, Erinn Lankford and Logan Shaw Trudell; five great-grandchildren: Courtney Patton Probst, Drew Patton, Alexis Woodall, Hannah Owen and Olivia Owen; four sisters: Marcia Sanders, Cydney Stovall, Nancy Fetters, and Ann Speir. She is preceded in death by a grandson: Brady Smith. There will be a celebration of life visitation at Dial & Dudley Funeral Home (4212 Hwy 5 North, Bryant, Ark.) on Friday, August 22nd, from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church (508 N. Reynolds Rd., Bryant, Ark.) on Saturday, August 23rd, at 10 a.m.. Interment will follow on Saturday at 2 p.m., at Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery, Augusta, Ark.. Pallbearers are Keith Lankford, Clay Cullum, Michael Bailey, Drew Patton, Alex Lankford, and Logan Shaw Trudell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org), in memory of Mona, on behalf of her great-nephew, Sam Bryant.
