Charles H. Small, 90, of Pine Bluff, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Davis Life Care Center. Born April 19, 1924, in Cleveland County, Arkansas, he was a son of the late F.L. "Buck" and Lyda Pearl Reed Small. He attended schools in Cleveland County and the Woodlawn Community, graduating from Woodlawn High School. In May of 1943, he married the love of his life, Eva Jo Vinson. Together they had two daughters and shared over 70 years of life, love and memories. Mr. Small served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed with Silbernagel Wholesale Foods as a sales representative for 25 years. After his career in wholesale grocery, he became a salesman for Smart Chevrolet. For over twenty years, he helped many people in Jefferson County and Southeast Arkansas find the right vehicle until his retirement in the mid 1980's. Mr. Small was a faithful Christian man and an active member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Allie Small and James Morris Small. Survivors include his loving wife, Jo Small; his daughters, Sherry Walker (Larry), of Collierville, Tennessee and Bettye Tucker (Ray), of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his brothers, Leonard Small, of Woodlawn, and Bob Small, of Pine Bluff; and his sister, Margaret Austin, of Pine Bluff. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son, with Dr. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. Saturday until service time. Mr. Small will be in state Friday evening at Robinson's. Friends may sign the online register at www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
