Glenda Faye (Easley) Dobson

Glenda Faye (Easley) Dobson of Sheridan, Ark. (formerly of Dresden, Tenn. and Fullerton, Calif.) passed away in Jacob's Lake, Arizona on August 18, 2014 at the age of 74. She was born near Harris, Ark. on June 18, 1940. Her childhood education began walking more than two miles each day with her brothers to school in a one-room schoolhouse in Elm Springs, Ark. In 1951, at the age of 11, Glenda's family moved from Arkansas to make their home in Fullerton, Calif. Later she graduated from Fullerton High School with the class of 1957. In 1957, Glenda met her future husband Glenn Dobson Jr. of Camden, Tenn. After his discharge from the Navy, Glenda and Glenn were married in June 1958. They returned to Tennessee and set up their first home in Clarksville. They later moved to Martin, Tenn. where Glenda graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with her Bachelors degree. Glenda spent her teaching career at Dresden Elementary School, teaching kindergarten until her retirement in 2002. Soon after their retirement, Glenda and Glenn moved from Dresden, Tenn. to make their home in Sheridan, Ark. to be near family. Glenda was preceded in death by Glenn, her husband of 56 years, parents Dave and Irma Easley, and sister Linda Hicks. She is survived by her daughter Beth Dobson of Palmersville, Tenn., and two sons, David (Margaret) Dobson of Sheridan, Ark., and Daniel Dobson of San Diego, Calif. Seven grandchildren, Meagon and Michael of Ky., Matthew and Montana of Tenn., Nathan, Nick, and Shayne of Ark. Two great-grandchildren, Chelsey of Tenn., and Audrey of Ky. Two brothers, Denver (Paulette) Easley of Yorba Linda, Calif. and Doyle (Linda) Easley of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Glenda is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenda was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose love for her family was only surpassed by her love for God and HIS Church. She was a faithful, life-long member of the Church of Christ. Public visitation will be held at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home of Sheridan, Ark. on Aug. 24, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Sheridan Church of Christ in Sheridan, Ark. on Aug. 25, 2014 at 1 p.m., with burial to follow at Redfield Cemetery in Redfield, Ark. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers made to the Southern Christian Home at P.O. Box 649 in Morrilton, Ark. 72110.
