Richard McKinney

On August 25, 2014, Richard McKinney was released from his suffering by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and made to lie down in green pastures. In the last few months this was his greatest desire and hope. He was born August 24, 1943 to Coy and Hazel Grindstaff McKinney. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad, was a member and deacon of Berean Baptist Church and an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phayon Whisenant McKinney; daughter, Lisa McKinney Spangler (Rodney); son, Rich McKinney (Leslie); his bonus son, Tony Crites; eight grandchildren, Lacy Sullivan (Nathan), Christopher, Lindsay, Ryan, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Rebecca and Lily, to be born in October; one great-grandson, Cooper; two sisters, Pam Trivett (Paul) and Donna Lominac (Ernest); brother, Kenneth McKinney (Polly); sister-in-law, Charlene Whisenant; his special friends, JM Crites and Larry Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Gina McKinney Crites, and a brother-in-law, Darrell Whisenant. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m., Thursday at Smith – North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
