Ed "Porky" Stovesand, a retired farmer from Stuttgart died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014. He was born in Stuttgart on Oct. 25, 1925. He married Margie Brown on Dec. 13, 1944. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Doris Stovesand, and his sister, Gloria and husband, Paul Pettigrew. Ed served in World War II, liked all sports, especially golf and played semi-pro baseball with Stuttgart from 1946 to 1949. Ed is survived by his daughter, Claudia Hogue and husband, Jerry of Fayetteville; son, Jay Stovesand and wife, Debbie of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Jason Stovesand and wife, Marvel and Eric Stovesand and wife, Julie both of Carlisle, Melissa Broadhurst of Jonesboro and Erin Herlein and husband, Trey of Fayetteville; five great-grandchildren, Aden, Anna and Meyah Stovesand of Carlisle, Hannah Neyens of Fayetteville and Zavier Painter of Conway; brother, Milton Stovesand and wife, Hallie of Stuttgart; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Frances Scarborough, Katy Hein= and lots of special friends across the Grand Prairie. Ed was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuttgart and memorials may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, the Stuttgart Agricultural Museum or choice of donor. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuttgart. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
