Minor Oglesby

Minor Oglesby passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 in a Hot Springs, Ark. hospital. Mr. Oglesby was born to M.W. and Willie Mae Oglesby on March 23, 1930 in McKamie, Ark. He graduated as valedictorian of the Stamps High School class of 1948. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech and a Masters Degree of Automotive Engineering in Detroit, Mich. Mr. Oglesby served in the U.S. Army in Atlanta, Ga. and Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company, Bartlesville, Okla. in 1985 and was self-employed until 1997 when he retired a second time. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Omicron Delta Kappa honorary fraternities and a lifetime member of the American Society of Professional Engineers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bartlesville where he served as a deacon and in other areas until moving to Hot Springs in 2013. Mr. Oglesby married his high school sweetheart, Christine Cleveland, on December 22, 1950. Mr. Oglesby is survived by his wife; two daughters, Denise of Fayetteville, Ark., and Kaye Neal and husband, Richard of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother, Ronald Oglesby of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren, Randee Watson and husband, Nick of Magnolia, Ark., Travis Ashby and wife, Shanna of Tulsa, Okla., and Laurie Pinner and husband, Adam of Hope, Ark.; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, Ark. with Rev. Jere Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Lewisville, Ark. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
